This is our finished video, even though it is not as long as some others, we are happy with it

Our reactions

in reply to the feedback we have got from the class and a professional, we have decided to change these things;we will make the video mainly animation based. we will also use the colours from the begginning throughtout the video, so as to give it more of a theme. we will also make the footage of the perosn much quicker, and possibly zoom in, so it gets rid of and hands which are in the shot by accident. we will also make some of the shots and movements of the animatic move in time with the music.

Rough cut

work done so far

we decided that we would start filming some of the footage while in college, so we asked some people if they would mind being filmed while saying the first few sentances of the song. we filmed 4 people saying the same lyrics because we wanted to cut the clips up and have each person saying different bits of the song.
we then, once we had arranged the clips how we wanted them, we were shown a good idea as to what we could do, we wanted to have each person having a different coloured background for each of there part of the song. so using final cut we were shown how to put whole colours behind the person in the shot.

after this was all sorted, decided that animation was the best thing to do next because animation takes quite a long time to do, and can be quite complicated. so i have been shown how to, again using final cut produce a light meter, this is where i have placed blocks in a row, 4 up, 4 down, and cut up the clips so that certain blocks disappear with the music making it slightly look like its playing withe the music.

This is still just the bare bones- needs a lot more detail and I'm a bit worried that when you get to filming you may end up with less than you hope for. The timeline exercise may help flesh it out this week.

Another influencing video

we liked this video as we think the ideas of moving differnet objects would work well espedcially when we film the boom box, we think that we should have it moving, for example cd's being put in and it moving along the floor.

we liked the way the shapes disapear and reapear. we would like to use a similar idea with the paint if its possible. we may use stencils with the paint.

We have also decided to shoot some scenes of the paint in a garden, on a black sheet on the floor. We feel this could be less messy,complicated, less hassle and easier to do. We want to film footprints and handprint using the 'stop start' technique.

MORE PITCHING

We also plan to do film some animation using a toy robot. we can use a setting which wioll be either quite oplain for the robot to move around in, or we could use something like a dolls house to give the effect of it being in a house.
anlother idea which we have was to film straight on, close up shots of various different peoples faces with different brightly coloured backgrounds simply speaking the lyrcis. we could speed this up so each different person says a word or a line.
Also the paint we can play around with. we could film it spattering and start and stop filming then rewind the film so it gives the effect that the paint is disapearing and reapearing.
i think if we only have the party scene included in the video it could be a bit bring, although we will have it featured.
so we just plan to have various different scenes and shots of the close up faces, the paint, the dancers, the animation and the party. all of this we will feel will create a goo, well structued music video.

We want to start with quick shots of people entering a party and then we want to do a point of view shot showing the room filling up wit people. then another point of view shot of the person moving through the crowd of people dancing and arms everwhere. the soundtrack to be playing loudly.

We then want to hve different shots of different areas of the party.

we will then have the person moving from teh party sceen to a quieter darker room within the house. in here there is just dark cloth all over th room, and this is where the people and the luminous paint arrive.

we plan to have many differnet shots of the people throwing the paint everywhere. We plan to have close ups of different areas of the paint throwers such as hands arms, the walls as the paint hits it. we may try and also havw long high shots of the dark people throwing teh paint, we may try and do it so that we can not even see the people throwing the paint an just the luminous paint.

We would like to go back to a point of view shot of the person backing out of the room, and closing the door, turnig round and re-entering the very crowed party.

we then wnat the party to divide into two halfs to make way for the robotic dancers to enter, and they will make their way to the centre of the room and everyone will surroundbthem as they start to dance.

The poeple watching should be clapping and dancing and cheering the dancers on.
we would like a high shot of the dancers and all the people around them.

WE want a lot of differnt camera angles and shots to show how abstract the video will be, and this way we think it will fit in best wit the style and typ of music it is.

We would like to end it by lots of spining around, blurred pictures of the party and maybe the luminous paint mixed together, and then as if the person falls to the ground as the music ends.

Futher ideas

we will also like to fil a party scene throughtout our video. this will include lots of young people, dancing in crowded room. so there will be three main scenes in our piece.
We think this is a good idea because it goes together well with the sort of music we have chosen. We got this idea from an advert we saw on television called skins


Another video which will influence us is a video by 'the klaxons' where they use glow in the dark paint, we liked this idea,so plan to use it in our video.




- in this video we liked how they used lumious clothes against a dark background.

Our chosen music

We have decided that we liked the idea of track 11- by Robots in Disguise.
We have thought of a few ideas as to what we could do as a music video, these include:
a dark room with actors in dark overalls or wearing luminous clothing. We had the idea that they may splat luminous paint all over the black canvas, we think this would go very well with the style of the music that we have chosen.
We think the music video would be really good if it was all abstract, and different.
the music would be part of a chant that the painters would be dancing to, and to add affect we may produce little robots by animation that appear at various times in the video.
